The West Florida Genealogy Library is located at 5740 N. 9th Avenue, near Pensacola State College.
The non-circulating library houses a collection of local history and genealogical resources including holdings owned by the West Florida Genealogical Society. Library staff and WFGS volunteers are available to assist with your information searches.
Ancestry and Heritage Quest (Library Access) (Home Access) are Subscription Databases available free with your WFPL library card. is for “In Library Use Only.”  Source materials may include military, census, immigration, probate, or vital records, tax lists, city directories, U.S. newspapers, or family history books. Visit any of these additional genealogy websites to assist your research.
The Genealogy Collection focuses on the Southeastern states and includes a good selection of material on the Northeastern and Central states.  Military books with an emphasis on the Civil War, (troop rosters, units, battles, and pension information) are also available.  The collection also includes books on African-American and European genealogy, family histories, heraldry, and hereditary society records.  The Native American collection covers the local Cherokee and Creek tribes with some Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Seminole tribes included.
Obituaries or other local information may be requested via email (please include your current address and phone number in the email) or by phone at (850) 494-7373 or 7375.  Please contact us before mailing requests.  Escambia County residents are encouraged to visit the library for assistance.  
Microfilm available includes Fisher Pou Funeral Records, Escambia marriage and “delayed” birth records, census data, magazines, newspapers, Sears catalogs, and the Pensacola News Journal from 1954 to present, with some sporadic issues between 1824 - 1919.  See our Subscription Databases for online access to the PNJ from 1999-present.
Local History resources about the City of Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, and Alabama are collected including maps, books, newspaper clippings, telephone books, and Pensacola City Directories.
